Dr. James K. McPhelan graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern California College of Optometry in 1976. The following year he found himself practicing in Arizona. In the 80's he opened the first 20/20 Eye Care office in Phoenix, and expanded that into 15 different locations. He subsequently sold those offices to get back into private practice and one-on-one patient care. In 1999 Dr. McPhelan took over Optical Illusions to provide an easy going and personalized atmosphere for eye examinations and eyewear sales.
Dr. Fuller received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Washington State University. Yes, he graduated Cum Laude, but he has to hear how Dr. McPhelan graduated Magna Cum Laude. He received his Doctorate in Optometry from The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) in 1998. Trying to escape the gloom of Washington and Ohio he traveled to the Valley of the Sun in 1999. He worked for several valley optometrists, including a local LASIK center. Dr. Fuller joined Dr. McPhelan at Optical Illusions in 2000, and with the success of Optical Illusions, they opened their second location, Optique at the Ridge, in December of 2005.
Welcome Dr. Ho! (Dr. Ho joined our practice in March of 2008.)
Dr. Ho graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1996 with a degree in Biology. She received her B.S.in Visual Science and her Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2000. To further her medical training, she completed a residency program at the University of Houston College of Optometry with an emphasis on the cornea and contact lenses. Since her residency training Dr. Ho has continued her contact lens studies. She has been involved in the research and development of new contact lens technologies and has lectured locally on the subject. We are excited about the knowledge and experience Dr. Ho brings to our practice. Dr. Ho was born in Johannesburg, South Africa but relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia at a young age. She loves to travel, exercise, hike and is an avid supporter of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team. Go Canucks!
